Last Saturday, the Cocks rose from their holiday slumber to do battle with a club called the Alentours (which is part of the name Aux Alentours du Pantheon, or something like that). It was a hard-fought match for the Cocks, as the Alentours are solid players and are 10-15 years younger than we are across the board. The Cocks penetrated the Alentours’ defense for a three-tries-to-one half time lead but went flaccid in the second half and allowed the Alentours to tie the match at 3-3. Near the end of the match, the Cocks stiffened and punched one in to win the match, 4-3.
Next weekend, I will be in Rotterdam for a New Year’s dinner with my old club, so there will be no Cocks for me next week.
